The thesis describes the subject of state holidays and festivities in the period of the Slovak state (1939 - 1945). The main aim of this work is to explain the change of the public holiday system after the collapse of the first Czechoslovak republic and the subsequent formation of the Slovak state in which Hlinka's Slovak People's Party usurped the leading role. Práca sa venuje problematike štátnych sviatkov a osláv v období Slovenského štátu (1939-1945). Jej hlavným cieľom je odpovedať na otázku, ako sa zmenil systém sviatkov po zániku prvej Československej republiky a vzniku Slovenského štátu, v ktorom si pre seba vedúcu úlohu uzurpovala Hlinkova slovenská ľudová strana.
