Methods of wood plasticization for densification of wooden elements

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá plastifikací dřeva pomocí mikrovlnného (MW) záření a jeho srovnání s tradičním způsobem paření pro účely zhušťování dřeva. V této práci byly shrnuty literární zdroje zkoumané problematiky. Experiment byl proveden na zkušebních vzorcích topolu bílého (Populus alba) s rozměry 298 x 68 x 36 mm. Mikrovlnná plastifikace byla provedena třemi průchody mikrovlnnou laboratorní linkou při výkonu 2 kW a rychlosti posuvu dopravníku 0,1 m/min. Druhá skupina zkušebních vzorků byla plastifikovaná v parním autoklávu při teplotě 101 °C ± 2 °C a tlaku 20 kPa po dobu 60 minut. Experiment byl rozšířen o třetí skupinu zkušebních vzorků, které byly předsušeny na mez hygroskopicity pomocí MW ohřevu a následně byly plastifikovány v parním autoklávu při stejných podmínkách jako druhá skupina zkušebních vzorků. Po plastifikaci byly zkušební vzorky zhuštěny v lisovacích formách pomocí dvouetážového laboratorním lisu na rozměr 298 x 68 x 20 mm. Zhuštěné zkušební vzorky byly stabilizovány v lisovacích formách při teplotě 103 °C po dobu 7 dnů. U zkušebních vzorků byla v průběhu plastifikace měřena vlhkost a teplota (analýza děje plastifikace). Po zhuštění a klimatizaci byly vzorky mechanicky testovány tří-bodým ohybem pro zjištění modulu pružnosti (MOE) a meze pevnosti (MOR) a dále byly vystaveny analýze hustotního profilu použitím rentgenové denzitografie (vyhodnocení kvality plastifikace). Z výsledků experimentálních měření vyplývá, že mikrovlnná plastifikace dřeva má velký potenciál pro technologii zhušťování dřeva, jelikož má srovnatelné účinky jako plastifikace parou, avšak s úsporou času i energetických nároků procesu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the plasticization of wood using microwave (MW) radiation and its comparison with the traditional method of steaming for the purpose of wood compaction. In this work, the literary sources of the researched problems were summarized. The experiment was demonstrated on test specimens of white poplar (Populus alba) measuring 298 x 68 x 36 mm. Microwave plasticization was performed by three passes through a microwave laboratory at a power of 2 kW and a conveyor speed of 0.1 m / min. The second group of test specimens was plasticized in a steam autoclave at a temperature of 101 ° C ± 2 ° C and a pressure of 20 kPa for 60 minutes. The experiment was extended by a third group of test specimens, which were pre-dried to the hygroscopicity limit by MW heating and subsequently plasticized in a steam autoclave under the same conditions as the second group of test specimens. After plasticization, the test specimens were compacted in compression molds using a two-stage laboratory press to a size of 298 x 68 x 20 mm. The compacted test specimens were stabilized in compression molds at 103 ° C for 7 days. Humidity and temperature of the test specimens were measured during the plasticization (analysis of the plasticization process). After compaction and air conditioning, the samples were mechanically tested by three-point bending to determine the modulus of elasticity (MOE) and yield strength (MOR), and density profile analyzes were subjected to X-ray denzography (plasticization quality evaluation). The results of experimental measurements show that microwave wood plasticization has great potential for wood compaction technology, it has its comparable effects as steam plasticization, but also saves time and energy process.
