Abstract:

The aim of this thesis was to analyze cost management and the costing system implemented in a particular corporation, in order to draw practical conclusions with regard to possible improvements of the situation. The author analyzes the different types of costs borne by companies, and evaluates the tools and methods which can be applied by entities for minimizing their costs. The practical part of the thesis is dedicated to the investigation of the cost management practices implemented by the Czech car giant Škoda Auto a.s. The author identifies the key advantages and drawbacks of the corporation’s cost management activities, and also provides valuable recommendations to the company for achieving the maximum effectiveness of its cost management, and thus its maximum possible financial results. The thesis provides valuable findings for the subsequent research dedicated to cost management and its practical application.
