Archetype as an actor's source of inspiration in creating characters? The archetype of the Devil in the film

Anotácia:

Diplomová práce „Archetyp Ďábla jako inspirační zdroj při tvorbě postavy ve filmu“ se v první části věnuje pojmu archetyp a definuje jej pro potřeby této práce. Dále pojednává o Ďáblu, jakožto archetypu, obecněji definovaném v kontextu křesťanství a popisujícím jeho vlastnosti jako vlastnosti dramatické postavy. Ve třetí části práce rozebírá tři vybrané filmové herecké výkony a nazírá na ně skrze optiku archetypu Ďábla a to, jakým způsobem je u daných výkonů ona ďábelskost ztvárněna. Práce si klade za cíl zjistit, jestli může být pro herce užitečné, nazírat na dramatickou postavu jako na projev archetypu a využít to při své herecké práci.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis „ The archetype of the devil as a source of inspiration in creating characters in the film” deals in the first part with the term archetype and defines it for the needs of this work. It also discusses the devil, as an archetype, more generally defined in the context of Christianity and describing its characteristics as a dramatic character. In the third part of the work, it analyzes three selected film performances and looks at them through the optics of the devil´s archetype and how the devilishness of the given performances is portrayed. The diploma thesis aims to find out whether it can be useful for actors, to look at a dramatic character as an expression of an archetype and to use it later in their acting work.
