Selected samizdat magazines in last decade of socialism

Abstract:

Práce zmapuje vývoj vybraných českých samizdatových časopisů v poslední dekádě socialismu, tedy v letech 1979 – 1989. Mezi vybrané časopisy patří Vokno, Kritický sborník, Obsah, Revolver Revue, O divadle, Most a Host. Kritériem pro jejich zvolení bylo celorepublikové působení (případně působení ve velkých městských centrech) nebo význam v undergroundové kultuře a kultuře disentu. Práce popíše vznik a vývoj zvolených časopisů. Kromě popisu vývoje periodika se práce zaměří na další dvě části – formální a obsahovou. Ve formální části přinese základní charakteristiky vybraných periodik: název, redakci, rozsah, dobu vydávání, periodicitu, náklad, rozmnožovací techniku a formát. Obsahová část se bude věnovat celkovému zaměření časopisu, členění do rubrik a volbě témat. Práce bude obsahovat i uvedení do politického a kulturního kontextu doby, ve které časopisy vycházely. Závěr práce se bude věnovat osudu časopisů po revoluci v roce 1989. Práce bude čerpat především z primárních zdrojů – původních vydání časopisů a hloubkových rozhovorů s jejich autory. Součástí zdrojů bude i sekundární literatura – rešerše sborníků, almanachů, případně děl samotných autorů periodik. Cílem práce bude podat hlubší vhled do fungování vybraných samizdatových časopisů a podrobněji zmapovat samizdatový žurnalistický prostor posledního desetiletí socialismu.

Abstract:

The work maps the development of selected Czech samizdat journals during the last decade of socialism, in 1979 – 1989. Among those journals there belongs Vokno, Kritický sborník, Obsah, Revolver Revue, O divadle, Most and Host. Criteria for their selection has been wide action (or action in major urban centers), or the importance of the underground and a culture of dissent. The work describes the creation and development of selected journals. In addition to describing the development of periodicals, the work will focus on two parts - the formal and content one. In the formal part the work will bring basic characteristics of the chosen journals: their names, editors, scope, time issue, frequency, cost, planting technique and format. The content part will pay attention to the overall focus of the magazine, broken into sections, and the choice of topics. Work will also include an entry into the political and cultural context of the period in which the magazines were serialized. The conclusion of the work will focus on the fate of the magazine revolution in 1989. The work will draw mainly from primary sources - the original edition of magazines and in-depth interviews with their authors. Another part of the sources will be secondary literature - research of collections, almanac, or works by authors of periodicals. The aim of the project will be to bring a deeper insight into the functioning of selected samizdat journals and to map the samizdat journalism of the last decade of socialism in more details.
