Users' motivation for using secure passwords

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zjistit, proč uživatelé nepoužívají bezpečná hesla a obchází bezpečnostní politiky. Pro její účely byl vytvořen dotazník pro běžné uživatele a na základě jejich odpovědí připraveny podklady pro diskusi o heslech a bezpečnosti s členy Studentské organizace MU. Na základě výsledků dotazníku i postřehů členů Studentské organizace byla vypracována konkrétní doporučení, jak uživatele motivovat používat bezpečná hesla a dodržovat bezpečnostní zásady. K motivování členů Studentské organizace dodržovat bezpečnostní politiku sloužila diskuse a textový dokument, který ji shrnoval a je součástí této práce.

Abstract:

The goal of this work is to find out why users do not use strong passwords and bypass security polices. A questionnaire for common users was created because of this work. Preparation for discussion about passwords and computer security with members of a Student organisation was based on user's answers. Particular recommendation how to made users use stronger passwords and respect security policy was created according to the questionnaire results and prompts from members of the organisation. The discussion and text document (which summarized it and is part of this work) was there to motivate members of the Student organisation to respect security policy and using strong passwords.
