Selected Problems of Multi-level Converters Control and Extremely Computationally Intensive Algorithms of Electrical Drive Advanced Control Implemented in Gate Arrays

Abstract:

Tato dizertační práce se zabývá zejména problematikou řízení víceúrovňových měničů a využitím hradlových polí pro výpočetně náročné algoritmy pro regulaci pohonů. Realizace těchto úloh je úzce svázána s vhodným řídícím hardware - mikroprocesorovým (číslicovým) regulátorem. V první části práce jsou rozebrány požadavky na řídící hardware pro víceúrovňové měniče. Tato část také hodnotí klíčové parametry pro využití hradlových polí pro akceleraci výpočtů regulátorů. Navazující část práce se zabývá problematikou návrhu mikroprocesorového regulátoru, který by především umožnil přímé připojení víceúrovňových měničů bez dalších hardwarových prostředků. Tato část práce popisuje také další hardwarové prostředky vyvinuté pro zajištění bezproblémového provozu této platformy v prostředí laboratoře výkonové elektroniky. Několik podkapitol se pak věnuje návrhu JTAG emulátorů pro nahrávání a ladění kódu v použitých mikrokontrolérech. Navazuje představení programové podpory pro nahrávání programovatelných logických obvodů pomocí speciální aplikace PLD loader a vyvinutých JTAG emulátorů. Spolu s hardwarem je stručně představeno aplikační rozhraní MLC_driver_lib a základní firmware pro použité logické obvody. Další část práce popisuje dosažené výsledky výzkumu v oblasti víceúrovňových měničů a zejména návrh a implementaci jejich algoritmů řízení. Navazuje část popisující regulační struktury pro jednotlivé topologie ve funkcích usměrňovače a střídače, spolu s výsledky experimentů. Předposlední část práce prezentuje výsledky výzkumu v oblasti bezsenzorového řízení střídavých elektrických pohonů s využitím stochastických filtrů a bayesovských estimátorů. Tato práce především řeší úlohu implementace marginalizovaného částicového (particle) filtru, určeného pro odhad polohy a rychlosti rotoru synchronního motoru s povrchovými permanentními magnety na rotoru (PMSM) bez použití čidla rychlosti nebo polohy na hřídeli stroje. Poslední část práce představuje blok pro Matlab/Simulink, který byl vyvinut jako účinný nástroj pro rapid prototyping a plnohodnotný model-based design regulačních struktur výkonových polovodičových měničů a regulovaných pohonů.

Abstract:

This doctoral thesis is focused on the issue of multilevel converter control and using FPGA for computationally intensive algorithms for motor control. The implementation of these tasks is closely related to an appropriate control hardware - the microprocessor (digital) controller. In the first part of the thesis, requirements for the multilevel converters control hardware are discussed. Key parameters for the use of FPGAs for accelerating calculations of control algorithms are also evaluated in this section. The following part of the work deals with the proposal of the microprocessor controller, which would enable a direct connection of multilevel converters without additional hardware resources. This part also describes an additional hardware resources developed to ensure a smooth operation of the platform in a power electronics laboratory. Several subchapters are devoted to JTAG emulators dedicated to loading and debugging code in the microcontroller. A software support for programming of the logic circuits and the developed JTAG emulators using a special application called PLD loader is presented in this section. It is briefly introduced a basic firmware and application interface called MLC_driver_lib. The next part of the work describes achieved results of research into multilevel converters field, especially into design and implementation of control algorithms. Following part describes control structures for all converter topologies used in the research and shows experimental results. The last but one part of the thesis presents the results of research into the field of sensorless control of AC drives using stochastic filters and Bayesian estimators. This work primarily addresses the role of implementation marginalized particle filter intended to the estimation of rotor position and speed of surface magnet mounted synchronous motors without any sensors at the rotor shaft. The last part presents the block for Matlab/Simulink which was developed as an effective tool for rapid prototyping and full model-based design of both the power electronics converters and the adjustable speed drives control structures.
