The Slam Poetry Phenomenon, Its History and Poetics in the Czech Cultural Environment

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje fenoménu slam poetry v kontextu českého literárního a společenského prostředí. Úvodní část nastiňuje historii slam poetry ve světovém a českém kulturním dění a poukazuje na vztahy slam poetry s postmodernou a performance art. Dále pojednává o soutěžích, exhibicích a významných osobnostech české slam poetry scény spolu s ukázkami jejich vystoupení. V další části se věnujeme tvorbě typologie české slam poetry na základě korpusu básnických sbírek a vystoupení autorů a zaměřujeme se také na aktuální společenské a didaktické přesahy slam poetry.

Abstract:

The Bachelor thesis focuses on slam poetry in Czech literary and social environment. The introductory section targets the history of the slam poetry genre and its spread. Furthermore, slam poetry is defined in the Czech and foreign context and in the postmodern and performance art context. The thesis also presents the evolution and rules of slam poetry competitions and exhibitions along with the Czech slam poetry scene, its development and important figures together with example of their work. The next part outlines a typology of the Czech slam poetry based on a corpus of poetry collections and performances by authors and also focuses on current social and didactic overlaps of slam poetry.
