The Tale of Cinderella and its of variants in Czech and World Literature

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce analyzuje a srovnává osm konkrétních verzí příběhu o Popelce. Zahrnuty jsou literární varianty z české i světové literatury. Zkoumá, jak jednotliví autoři či sběratelé příběh upravili, se kterými motivy pracovali a jak se v konkrétních variantách odráží dobový společný kontext. Výchozím textem je nejstarší dochovaná verze pocházející z Číny z 9. stol. př. n. l., která je srovnána s verzí egyptskou, italskou (G. Basila), francouzskou (Ch. Perraulta), německou (bratří Grimmů) a třemi českými (K. J. Erbena a B. Němcové). Přibližuje též moderní filmové adaptace příběhu, zajímá se o to, do jaké míry dochází k aktualizaci původních atributů. Na základě konkrétních filmových variant charakterizuje protagonistku příběhu, srovnává filmovou podobu hrdinky s literární podobou hrdinky, definuje její cestu za štěstím. Práce předkládá autorskou variantu parafrázující původní pohádkovou látku o Popelce. Bakalářská práce dále předkládá řadu definic pohádky, vymezuje žánrovou charakteristiku pohádky, přičemž se věnuje pohádce kouzelné. Zabývá se též teoriemi vzniku pohádek.

Abstract:

The Bachelor?s thesis analyses and compares eight particular versions of the Cinderella story. The literary variants from both the Czech and the world literature are included. The thesis examines how particular authors or collectors adapted the story, with which motives they worked and how the period common context is reflected in particular variants. The oldest extant version from China from the 9th century B.C. represents the initial text which is compared with the Egyptian, Italian (by G. Basile), French (by Ch. Perrault), German (by the Grimm brothers) and three Czech versions (by K. J. Erben and B. Němcová). The thesis also presents modern film adaptations of the story and explores to what degree the original attributes are updated. On the basis of particular film variants the protagonist of the story is characterised, the film image of the heroine is compared with the literary image of the heroine, and her way to happiness is defined. The thesis presents the author?s variant which paraphrases the original fairy theme about Cinderella. Furthermore, the Bachelor?s thesis offers a series of definitions of a fairy tale, it defines the genre characteristics of a fairy tale while dealing with the magical fairy tale. It also deals with the theories of the origin of fairy tales.
