Christmas traditions and customs with particular attention to Christmas markets

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje tématu vánočních tradic a zvyků. Cílem této práce je zjistit, zda jsou v české společnosti vánoční svátky i přes rostoucí komercionalizaci vnímány jako příležitost k upevňování sociálních vazeb a zda jsou v České republice dodržovány vánoční tradice a zvyky. Dále je zkoumán primární účel návštěvy vánočních trhů. V teoretické části jsou vymezeny pojmy tradice, zvyky a tradiční lidová kultura. Dále je rozebrána legislativa související s tradiční lidovou kulturou. Další část se soustředí na vánoční svátky a tradice a jejich genezi. Poté jsou popsány vánoční trhy, jejich historie, současný stav a symboly s nimi spojené. V poslední kapitole teoretické části je popsáno chování spotřebitelů o Vánocích a faktory ovlivňující spotřebitelské chování. Praktická část je zaměřena na mapování dodržování vánočních tradic a zvyků v České republice na základě kvantitativního dotazníkového šetření. Dále je analyzován primární účel návštěvy vánočních trhů. V závěru jsou hypotézy a výzkumné otázky ověřeny a zodpovězeny, výsledky šetření jsou podrobně zhodnoceny.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of Christmas traditions and customs. The aim of this work is to find out whether the Christmas holidays in Czech society, despite the growing commercialization, are perceived as an opportunity to strengthen social ties and whether Christmas traditions and customs are observed in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the primary purpose of visiting Christmas markets is examined. The theoretical part defines the concepts of tradition, customs, and traditional folk culture. Legislation related to traditional folk culture is also described. The next part focuses on the Christmas holidays and traditions and their genesis. Then the Christmas markets, their history, current status and the symbols associated with them are described. The last chapter of the theoretical part describes consumer behavior at Christmas and factors influencing consumer behavior. The practical part is focused on mapping the observance of Christmas traditions and customs in the Czech Republic based on a quantitative questionnaire survey. Furthermore, the primary purpose of visiting Christmas markets is analyzed. In the end, the hypotheses and research questions are verified and answered, the results of the survey are evaluated in detail.
