Intergenerational Relations from the Perspective of Adolescents

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá zkoumáním mezigeneračních vztahů mezi adolescenty a jejich prarodiči v současné společnosti. Cílem práce je analyzovat, jak adolescenti tráví svůj volný čas s prarodiči a jakou roli prarodiči hrají v jejich životech. Na základě kvantitativního výzkumu, který zahrnoval dotazníkové šetření mezi 161 respondenty ve věku 11 až 21 let, práce zkoumá frekvenci setkávání, emocionální a komunikační blízkost, a typy společných aktivit mezi prarodiči a jejich vnoučaty. Výsledky ukazují, že prarodiči stále zaujímají významné místo v životech adolescentů, přičemž četnost setkávání a geografická blízkost mají významný vliv na kvalitu jejich vzájemného vztahu. Emocionální blízkost a společně trávený čas obohacují životy obou generací, přičemž prarodiči předávají hodnoty, tradice a životní moudrost, zatímco vnoučata přinášejí nové perspektivy a zážitky. Tato práce přispívá k lepšímu porozumění dynamiky mezigeneračních vztahů a jejich významu pro sociální soudržnost a individuální rozvoj.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis explores the dynamics of intergenerational relationships between adolescents and their grandparents in contemporary society. The aim of the study is to analyze how adolescents spend their free time with grandparents and the role grandparents play in their lives. Based on quantitative research involving a survey of 161 respondents aged 11 to 21, the thesis examines the frequency of meetings, emotional and communicative closeness, and types of shared activities between grandparents and their grandchildren. The results indicate that grandparents continue to hold a significant place in the lives of adolescents, with the frequency of meetings and geographical proximity significantly influencing the quality of their relationship. Emotional closeness and shared time enrich the lives of both generations, with grandparents passing on values, traditions, and wisdom, while grandchildren bring new perspectives and experiences. This work contributes to a better understanding of the dynamics of intergenerational relationships and their importance for social cohesion and individual development.
