Use of Basal Stimulation Concept in Patients with Dementia in a Home for the Elderly

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá využitím konceptu Bazální stimulace v péči o uživatele s demencí v konkrétním domově pro seniory. Vzhledem k charakteru výzkumného problému byl k jeho řešení zvolen kvalitativní výzkum, použita metoda kazuistiky, která dokumentuje praktické využití prvků a technik konceptu. Při sběru informací pro kazuistiky bylo čerpáno z údajů ze sociální a zdravotnické dokumentace, z přímého pozorování klientů domova pro seniory a z biografické anamnézy, která byla získána od členů rodin uživatelů. Z kazuistik vyplynulo, že ve vybraném sociálním pobytovém zařízení je bazálně ošetřovatelská péče vhodně nabízena a využívána, uživatelé ji přijímají a vnímají pozitivně. Aplikací různých technik a prvků konceptu Bazální stimulace byly nalezeny oblasti, kde bylo možné provést změny, a tím příznivě ovlivnit každodenní pobyt uživatelů. Současně byl vytvořen teoreticko-praktický informační materiál o konceptu pro všeobecné sestry a pracovníky přímé obslužné péče konkrétního sociálního zařízení.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis deals with the use of the concept of Basal stimulation in the care of users with dementia in a specific home for the elderly. Due to the nature of the research problem, a qualitative research was chosen to solve it, a case study was used, which describes the practical use of elements and techniques of the concept. When collecting informations for the case reports, we drew on data from social and medical documentation, direct observation of clients of the home for the elderly, and biographical anamnesis obtained from members of the users' families. From the case reports, it emerged that in the selected social residential facility, basic nursing care is appropriately offered and used, users accept it and perceive it positively. By applying various techniques and elements of the Basal Stimulation concept, areas where it was possible to make changes and thereby positively influence the stay of the users were found. At the same time, theoretical-practical information material on the concept was created for general nurses and direct service care workers of a specific social facility.
