Exile and Identity in the Contemporary Argentinean Fiction

Abstract:

This academic dissertation contains a study dedicated to the issue of exile and identity in the contemporary Argentinean novel. Our aim si to prove here that the theme of exile forms an integral part of the identity discourse. On one hand, we concentrate on the general modality of the so called internal exile, on the other hand, a great part of this work deals with texts that belong to the contemporary novel production that reflects a specific period of the last military dictatorship in 1976-1983. Our work has an interdisciplinary character.We examine the selected texts from the philosophical, narratological, mythological, psychoanalytic and tropological point of view. Out of the prolific Argentinean literary production we have selected for this analysis not only works by the world-famous writers (Jorge Luis Borgis, Ricardo Piglia, Hector Tizón) but also works of authors that only seldom received the attention of literary criticism (Reina Roffé, Daniel Moyano).

Abstract:

Obsahem disertační práce je studie věnovaná problematice exilu a identity v současném argentinském románu. Snažíme se zde dokázat, že téma exilu tvoří nedílnou součást diskursu o identitě, je jedním z klíčů k pochopení argentinské literatury a v obecnějším smyslu celé relativně mladé argentinské kultury, která svou identitu neustále hledá. V naší práci se na jedné straně soustředíme na obecnější modalitu tzv. vnitřního exilu, která je úzce spojená s existenciálním pocitem člověka. Na straně druhé významnou část studie věnujeme textům ze současné románové tvorby reflektujícím konkrétní období poslední vojenské diktatury v letech 1976-1983. Naše práce má interdisciplinární charakter, neboť se domníváme, že zvolené téma vyžaduje komplexnější pohled na danou problematiku. Vybrané texty zkoumáme z hlediska filozofického, naratologického, mytologického, psychoanalytického a tropologického. Z bohaté argentinské literární tvorby jsme pro analýzu vybrali jak díla známých a světově proslulých autorů (Jorge Luis Borges, Ricardo Piglia, Héctor Tizón), tak díla autorů, o něž se kritika donedávna zajímala jen okrajově (Reina Roffé, Daniel Moyano).
