Abstract:

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has evolved to become a critical element of sustainable business strategy, allowing companies to invest significantly in the development of society wile improving the corporate image. This research assesses the effectiveness, stakeholder perception, and contribution of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL)'s CSR activities in areas of education, healthcare, rural development, environmental management, and employment generation. Survey research was used to measure awareness, reach, and effectiveness of RIL's CSR initiatives, with an accent on success and room for improvement. The results show that 76.5% of respondents knew about RIL's CSR initiatives, with education and healthcare being the most effective. Moreover, 56.9% of respondents mentioned direct gains from RIL's CSR initiatives, identifying the company as playing an important role in welfare and development among people. Nonetheless, a mere 39.2% of participants indicated regular participation of the community in CSR decision-making, further highlighting the demand for increased participation of stakeholders and grassroots engagement. The research further identified increasing popularity for CSR interventions on women's empowerment and online literacy, a sign that social priorities are evolving towards technology inclusivity and equality of genders. Drawing on these results, this study suggests a holistic list of recommendations to boost the sustainability, transparency, and long-term effectiveness of RIL's CSR initiatives. Some major recommendations are building on community engagement in decision-making, increasing digital literacy and entrepreneurship initiatives, using AI to gauge CSR impact, and ensuring CSR initiatives align with national development goals. The study also emphasizes the need to bring about public-private partnerships, data-driven monitoring systems, and self-sustaining CSR initiatives for maximizing social impact. Through these suggestions, RIL can better develop its CSR system, improve stakeholder confidence, and advance long-term socio-economic growth. The research emphasizes the imperative for corporate involvement in solving future-oriented social issues and offers a strategic guide to enhance CSR performance in India.
