Implications for asset allocation in a globalized, knowledge-based society

Abstract:

Over the last few decades the markets for financial capital, labour and knowledge have opened up, provoking fierce competition within many industrial countries. The world we live in is slowly being recognized as The Era of Globalization. Just as the Depression, the Cold War Era, the Space Age, and the Roaring 20s are used to describe particular periods in history, globalization describes the political, economic, and cultural atmosphere of our day. The economic sequences and the theories related to the economic process find themselves in an upheaval and the state of reorientation at the beginning of the 21st century. The research will investigate the relevance and impact of the knowledge-based society in a globalised world on the asset allocation process. The knowledge-based society and the globalized economy follow their own rules and it seems that knowledge itself is becoming an asset. One gets the impression that the former theories of economic development are no longer able to predict market cycles. The most remarkable finding is the fact that the underlying asset seems less important than the knowledge thereof. The financial crisis is an example for this assumption and an understanding of the occurrence is important to avoid such developments in the future.

Abstract:

Během několika posledních desetiletí se otevřely trhy finančnímu kapitálu, pracovním silám a znalostem a vyvolaly tak silnou konkurenci v mnoha průmyslových zemích. Svět, v němž žijeme, je pomalu rozpoznáván jako éra globalizace. Stejně jako jsou termíny jako krize, studené války, kosmický věk a Roaring 20s (1920-1929) použity pro označení konkrétního období v historii, globalizace popisuje politickou, ekonomickou a kulturní atmosféru našich dnů. Na počátku 21. století se ekonomické úseky a teorie vztahující se k procesu hospodářství ocitly v otřesech a stavu přeorientování. Během několika posledních desetiletí se trhy finančního kapitálu, pracovních sil a znalostí otevřely a vyvolaly tak tvrdou konkurenci. Tento výzkum bude zaměřen na význam a dopad znalostní společnosti v globalizovaném světě na proces alokace aktiv. Společnost založená na znalostech a globalizovaná ekonomika se řídí vlastními pravidly a zdá se, že samotná znalost se stává aktivem. Člověku se dostává dojmu, že dřívější teorie hospodářského rozvoje nejsou dále schopny odhadnout tržní cykly. Nejpozoruhodnějším zjištěním je skutečnost, že se základní aktivum zdá být méně důležité než znalost jako taková. Současná finanční krize je příkladem pro tento předpoklad a porozumění jejího vzniku je důležité, abychom se v budoucnu takovémuto vývoji vyhnuli.
