Effectiveness of special educational intervention in individuals suffering from Alzheimer's disease from the point of view of assisting professions

Abstract:

Předložená rigorózní práce na téma „Efektivita speciálně edukační intervence u jedinců trpících Alzheimerovou chorobou z pohledu pomáhajících profesí“ se zabývá řešením problematiky osob trpících demencí, konkrétně pak Alzheimerovou chorobou, která je nejvíce zastoupeným typem demence v České republice. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na popis samotné problematiky spolu s možnostmi řešení z pohledu pomáhajících profesí. Teoretická část popisuje realizovaný výzkum, pro který bylo využito 40 probandů. Tito probandi byli rozděleni do skupiny experimentální, která se aktivně účastnila naší intervence a do skupiny kontrolní, která se naší intervence účastnila pasivně. Jako diagnostikou metodu jsme zvolili využití standardizovaných testů (Montreálský kognitivnít test, Bristolská škála denních aktivit a Dotazník změněných schopností seniora), které nám v praxi hodnotí jednotlivé složky kognitivních funkcí, které jsou progresí demence postupně oslabovány a dále hodnotí soběstačnost a samostatnost. Na základě vstupního, kontrolního a výstupního testování prezentujeme výsledky, které poukazují na fakt, že pravidelná intervence vedla k mírnému zlepšení v testovaných oblastech u skupiny experimentální, oproti skupině kontrolní.

Abstract:

The presented rigorous work on "Effectiveness of special educational intervention in individuals suffering from Alzheimer's disease from the perspective of assisting professions" deals with the solution of the problem of people with dementia, namely Alzheimer's disease, which is the most represented type of dementia in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part focuses on the description of the problem itself together with the possibilities of solution from the point of view of assisting professions. The theoretical part describes the research, for which 40 probands were used. These probands were divided into an experimental group that actively participated in our intervention and in the control group that participated in our intervention passively. As a diagnostic method, we chose to use standardized tests (the Montreal Cognitive Test, the Bristol Range of Daily Activities and the Questionnaire of Changed Seniors' Skills), which in practice evaluate individual components of cognitive functions that are progressively weakened by dementia progression and further assess self-sufficiency and autonomy. Based on input, control and output testing, we present results that point to the fact that regular intervention led to slight improvement in the test areas in the experimental group versus the control group.
