Finnish particle clitics (liitepartikkelit) and their interpretation in Slovak and Czech translations

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with Finnish particle clitics (liitepartikkelit). Particle clitic is a suffix-like morpheme that is attached to a word at its very end and adds some additional meaning to the utterance. There are seven particle clitics in Finnish and the aim of this paper is to define ways of use and functions of each of them and to find out in what ways they can be interpreted in translations into Slovak and Czech. To analyze the possibilities of interpretation, we used a novel by Finnish author Arto Paassilinna that is translated into both target languages.

Abstract:

Táto diplomová sa zaoberá fínskymi príklonkami (liitepartikkelit). Príklonka je morféma podobná sufixu, ktorá sa pripája k slovu až na jeho úplnom konci a do vyjadrenia vnáša nejaký ďalší, prídavný význam. Príkloniek vo fínčine je sedem a cieľom tejto práce je charakterizovať každú z nich, jej funkcie a spôsoby použitia, a zistiť, akými spôsobmi sa dajú interpretovať v prekladoch do slovenčiny a češtiny. K analýze možností interpretácie sme použili román od fínskeho autora Arta Paasilinnu preloženú do oboch skúmaných jazykov.
