Monitoring of Network Protocols Used to Configure Devices

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá monitorováním síťových protokolů pro konfiguraci zařízení. Popisuje fungování protokolů BOOTP a DHCP, analyzuje a srovnává možnosti monitorování těchto protokolů. Stručně uvádí problematiku monitorování sítí pomocí IP toků s důrazem na technologii IPFIX. Popisuje programové vybavení FlowMon exportéru, který byl použit pro vytvoření monitorovacího modulu process-dhcp, který je hlavním přínosem této práce. Dále se zabývá popisem tohoto modulu a jeho využitím při detekci anomálií, útoků a rozšířené identifikace klientských zařízení.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis discusses monitoring of network protocols used to configure devices. It describes working of BOOTP and DHCP protocols, analyzes and compares its monitoring possibilities. Briefly, it mentions characteristic of IP flow monitoring with emphasis on IPFIX technology. It also describes FlowMon exporter application environment, which was used for creating monitoring plugin process-dhcp, which is main benefit of this thesis. The thesis also describes implementation of plugin and its use for anomaly detection, attacks and extended identification of client devices.
