Viennese dances of death in the works of Schnitzler's followers

Abstract:

The goal of my work is to explain the concept of "Dance of death" to both general and expert public and to translate, what this definition means in the history of art and literature. I have focused on the play "Reigen" from austrian author Arthur Schnitzler and on works of his followers. Although the Dance of death is a mediaeval definition it still impacts human lives even today, therefore it is a dateless theme.

Abstract:

Cílem mé práce je seznámit odbornou i laickou veřejnost s pojmem "Tanec smrti" a přiblížit, co tento pojem znamená v dějinách umění a v literatuře. Zaměřila jsem se na divadelní hru "Reigen" od rakouského dramatika Arthura Schnitzlera a na díla jeho následovníků. Tanec smrti je sice pojmem středověkým, zasahuje však do lidských životů i dnes, je to tedy téma nadčasové.
