Analysis of the Impact of Economic Growth on the Happiness of Population

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá vliv hospodářského růstu zemí na štěstí obyvatel. Touto problematikou se již zabývalo několik studií ohledně ekonomie štěstí (Stefano, Sarracino, 2014). Cílem této bakalářské práce je pomocí ekonometrické analýzy zjistit, zdali hospodářský růst zemí ovlivňuje štěstí obyvatel. Analýza je zaměřena na 41 evropských států v letech 2011 až 2018. V praktické části je k sestavení modelu využita pooling metoda nejmenších čtverců. Model také pracuje s dalšími proměnnými, avšak jako statisticky významný se projevil ve vztahu ke štěstí obyvatel pouze hospodářský růst.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the impact of economic growth of countries on the happiness of population. Several studies about the economics of happiness have been already addressed this issue (Stefano, Sarracino, 2014). The aim of this bachelor thesis is to use econometric analysis to determine whether the economic growth of countries affect the happiness of population. The analysis is focused on 41 European countries between the years 2011 to 2018. In the practical part, the least squares pooling method is used to build the model. The model also works with other variables, but only economic growth in relation to the happiness of the population was statistically significant.
