Human Resources Development in a Company

Abstract:

Employee training and development is one of the most essential activities takes place in organizations. Training opportunities help employees to enrich their knowledge and improve performance. Therefore, it is crucial to provide training opportunities to employees and strengthen those practices, however, it is not one of the priorities in some organizations. The main purpose of this thesis is to evaluate employee training and development practices in an organization and to propose adjustments towards its enhanced use. Various information were gathered from 33 employees and 4 managers using a quantitative approach. The analysis of these information reveal that staff has positive attitude on training as it improves their performance, even though, they are dissatisfied about company’s current training practices. Training and development role is currently decentralized and empowered to managers to provide trainings to their employees but in fact, there are no proper guidelines or policies directed to shape trainings and even training documents are not maintained properly. Based on these results it is suggested to make trainings as centrally coordinating activities, strengthen current training mechanism and also provide developmental opportunities for employees to enrich both knowledge and experience.
