This thesis examines the gender, stereotypical femininity and masculinity, and feminism in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Looking for Alaska, by the applying gender performativity theory by Judith Butler (1990), investigating the 'Manic Pixie Dream Girl ' trope as described in Jennifer Gouck (2021, 2023), and studying the choices women make as Snyder-Hall (2010) asserts 'choice' being one of the …more
