Vestiges: Spaces Between

Abstract:

Looking at empty spaces within photography and arguing that the medium of photography is the most well equiped to deal with the issues that these images suggest. Also, discussing the work of these photographers in comparrison to other art forms and genres such as:- the still life, sculpture and minimalism. Comparing empty intimate spaces with empty public spaces with further discussion into images of the home and why these are important to us. Further discussion looks at the comercial art world and photography, and this genres success here with the work of Andreas Gursky. Issues of presence and absence run throughout the work tying the images together and providing the main link specifically to photography.
