Awareness of mothers about the nutrition of children under one year of age and the role of the nurse

Abstract:

Úvod: Pro člověka je jeden z nejdůležitějších životních faktorů výživa, která se podílí na správném růstu a vývoji jedince. A je velmi důležité budovat u dítěte správný vztah k jídlu již od narození. Cíl: Hlavním cílem této práce bylo zjistit míru informovanosti matek o výživě dětí do jednoho roku života po edukaci dětskými sestrami v porodnicích a ambulancích praktického lékaře. A dílčím cílem bylo zjistit, z jakých zdrojů ženy nejčastěji získávaly informace o kojení a zavádění nemléčných příkrmů a zda ženy byly edukovány o výživě dětí do jednoho roku života v porodnicích a ordinacích praktického lékaře. Metodika: Průzkum byl proveden pomocí kvantitativní metody prostřednictvím nestandardizovaného dotazníku vlastního schématu. Před distribucí dotazníku bylo provedeno pilotní šetření, v rámci, kterého bylo osloveno 15 náhodně vybraných žen, aby byla ověřena dostatečná srozumitelnost otázek. Data byla sbíraná v Google formuláři a následně prezentována prostřednictvím tabulek a grafů. Celkový počet respondentek byl 716. Výsledky: Ze získaných dat vyplývá, že ženy mají dostatečnou míru informovanosti o výživě novorozence a kojence. 91 % respondentek vědělo, že by dítě mělo být kojeno podle jeho potřeby; 97,9 % matek správně odpovědělo, že by se nemléčné příkrmy měly podávat od 6.měsíce a 86,6 % respondentek vědělo s jakým časovým odstupem podávat nemléčné příkrmy. Ve výsledcích se našly pouze tři otázky, na které odpovědi od respondentek nebyly správné. Mezi tyto otázky patří - délka uchovávání odstříkaného mateřského mléka (48 % žen odpovědělo nesprávně), od kdy může jíst dítě složením a strukturou stejnou potravu jako rodina (57 % žen odpovědělo nesprávně), do jaké doby by se měla maximálně podávat umělá kojenecká mléka (70 % respondentek odpovědělo nesprávně). O významu a technice kojení bylo edukováno a informováno 66 % žen. Nejčastějším zdrojem pro získávání informací o kojení a zavádění nemléčných příkrmů byl internet (82,2 %). Závěr: I přes dostačující znalosti matek o výživě dítěte do jednoho roku je důležité, aby se nezapomínalo v porodnicích a ordinacích praktického lékaře pro děti a dorost na edukaci a předávání informací o správné výživě dítěte. Protože výživa je jeden z nejdůležitějších faktorů pro život a zdraví jedince.

Abstract:

Introduction: For humans, one of the most important life factors is nutrition, which is involved in the proper growth and development of an individual. And it is very important to build the right relationship with food in the child from birth. Aims: The main goal of this work was to determine the level of awareness of mothers about the nutrition of children up to one year of age after the education of children's nurses in maternity hospitals and general practitioner clinics. And a partial goal was to find out from which sources women most often obtained information about breastfeeding and the introduction of non-dairy foods and whether women were educated about the nutrition of children up to one year in maternity hospitals and general practitioners' offices. Methodology: The survey was conducted using a quantitative method through a non-standardized questionnaire of its own scheme. Before the distribution of the questionnaire, a pilot survey was carried out, in which 15 randomly selected women were approached in order to verify the sufficient comprehensibility of the questions. The data was collected in a Google form and then presented through tables and graphs. The total number of respondents was 716. Results: The obtained data show that women have a sufficient level of information on newborn and infant nutrition. 91 % of female respondents knew that a child should be breastfed according to his needs; 97.9 % of mothers correctly answered that non-dairy foods should be given from the 6th month and 86.6 % of respondents knew how often non-dairy foods should be given. In the results, only three questions were found for which the answers from the female respondents were not correct. These questions include - the length of time to store expressed breast milk (48 % of women answered incorrectly), from when can a child eat foods with the same composition and structure as the family (57 % of women answered incorrectly), until what time artificial infant milk should be given at most (70 % of respondents answered incorrectly). 66 % of women were educated and informed about the importance and technique of breastfeeding. The most common source for obtaining information about breastfeeding and the introduction of non-dairy foods was the Internet (82.2 %). Conclusion: Despite the sufficient knowledge of mothers about the nutrition of a child up to one year old, it is important not to forget in maternity hospitals and general practitioners' offices for children and adolescents about education and passing on information about proper child nutrition. Because nutrition is one of the most important factors for the life and health of an individual.
