The Czech-Sudeten German interethnic relations of interwar period from the perspective of the Stříbro´s periodical "Mieser Zeitung"

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá česko-německými vztahy v oblasti Stříbrska pohledem tamějších médií "Deutsche Wacht an der Miesa" (DWM) a "Mieser Zeitung" (MZ). Práce obsahuje prolog obecného česko-německého soužití v historickém kontextu. V další části je popsána historie Čechů a Němců na Stříbrsku, přičemž je akcentace vedena na události od konce 19. století, kdy formování česko-německých vedlo k událostem, jež nenávratně změnily jejich podobu a nasměrovaly k výrazným změnám v české svébytnosti. Jako primární zdroje slouží především odborná literatura, dalšími zdroji jsou archiválie Státního okresního archivu v Tachově a materiály Státní vědecké knihovny v Plzni. Hlavní oblast bakalářské práce popisuje období po první světové válce, kdy došlo k výrazným změnám v česko-německých vztazích, jež souvisely se vznikem samostatného Československého státu. Na toto období je pohlíženo pohledem výše zmíněných stříbrských médií DWM a pozdějšího listu MZ. Právě toto z pohledu česko-německého soužití nejvýznamnější období je nejstěžejnější kapitolou práce. Studium výše zmíněných periodik umožňuje popsat dříve neznámý kontext vysoce problematických vztahů mezi Čechy a Němci (nejen) na Stříbrsku.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with Czech-German relations in the region of Stříbro from the point of view of the local media "Deutsche Wacht an der Miesa" (DWM) and "Mieser Zeitung" (MZ). The thesis contains a prologue of general Czech-German coexistence in a historical context. In the next part, the history of the Czechs and Germans in Stříbrsk is described, while the emphasis is on events from the end of the 19th century, when the formation of Czech-Germans led to events that irrevocably changed their form and led to significant changes in Czech individuality. The primary sources are mainly professional literature, other sources are the archives of the State District Archive in Tachov and the materials of the State Scientific Library in Pilsen. The main area of the bachelor thesis describes the period after the First World War, when there were significant changes in Czech-German relations, which were related to the creation of the independent Czechoslovak state. This period is viewed from the point of view of the above-mentioned DWM media and the later MZ newspaper. It is precisely this most significant period from the point of view of Czech-German coexistence that is the most important chapter of the work. The study of the above-mentioned periodicals makes it possible to describe the previously unknown context of highly problematic relations between Czechs and Germans (and not only) in Stříbro region.
