Comparative Analysis of the Business Environment in Nigeria

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce je analýza podnikatelského prostředí v Nigérii v komparaci s druhou africkou ekonomikou, Ghanou. Práce má za cíl identifikovat hlavní překážky v růstu ekonomiky ve zmíněných státech s následným porovnáním kvality podnikatelského prostředí. První kapitoly budou obsahovat obecné informace o Nigérii a Ghaně s demografickým a geografickým vymezením. Následovat bude politická a ekonomická charakteristika posledních let. Práce v těchto kapitolách bude zacílena na všudypřítomnou korupci, jež v různé míře zatěžuje hospodářství, na klíčové sektory státu jako zdravotnictví a vzdělání. Pomocí vybraných makroekonomických ukazatelů bude sledován vývoj hospodaření ekonomik a jejich výkonnost bude graficky porovnána. Závěrečnou kapitolu tvoří analýza a komparace podnikatelského prostředí popisovaných zemí. V závěru budou zodpovězeny položené otázky.

Abstract:

The Topic of this Diploma thesis is Business environment analysis in Nigeria compared to the African economy of Ghana. The goal of this thesis is to identify the main obstacles in the economic growth of these two countries, followed by a comparison of the quality of business environment. The first chapter contains general information about Nigeria and Ghana, focusing on geography and demography. The subsequent part is dedicated to the recent development and a description of the political and economic situation. In this part, the thesis targets pervasive corruption, within the countries, that burden many economies and key sectors, such as healthcare or education. Using macroeconomic indicators, the development of the described economies will be observed and graphically compared. The final part consists of the analyses and comparison of the Nigeria and Ghana business environment; and at the end, questions posed will be addressed.
