The Restoration of a Section of Figurative Painting Decorations on the Ceiling of the Nave of St. Wenceslas´ Church in Cerekvice upon Loučná

Abstract:

Praktická část bakalářské práce se zabývá restaurováním vymezené plochy figurálních nástěnných maleb v klenbě lodi klasicistního kostela sv. Václava v Cerekvici nad Loučnou. Jedná se o díla dvou autorů a dvou časových etap. Starší výzdoba Viléma Vondřejce pochází z let 19031904, mladší malby realizoval Josef Rak v roce 1926. Obsah bakalářské práce zahrnuje restaurátorský průzkum a popis vlastního restaurátorského zásahu. Její součástí je fotografická dokumentace, která zaznamenává jednotlivé kroky restaurátorských prací, grafická dokumentace a shrnutí výsledků laboratorních analýz. Teoretická část bakalářské práce se věnuje ucelenému pohledu na kapli sv. Josefa při kapitulním chrámu Povýšení sv. Kříže v Litomyšli. Sleduje její historický vývoj s důrazem na středověkou dispozici objektu a souvislost s areálem někdejšího augustiniánského kláštera. Analyzuje pozoruhodné, umělecky hodnotné detaily a předkládá možná východiska pro další interdisciplinární bádání. Odvolává se rovněž na výsledky restaurátorských prací v interieru kaple, provedených v roce 2002.

Abstract:

The practical part of this work deals with the restoration of the Stage figurative painting in the vaulted nave at the classicist church of St. Wenceslas, Cerekvice upon Loučná. The work is from two authors and two periods. The older decor is by Wilhelm Vondřejc, from the years 19031904 while the younger is by Joseph Rak, paintings executed in 1926. The content of this thesis includes a restoration survey and description of the restorazion work. It includes photographic documentation, which records each step of restoration works, graphic documentation and summary of results from laboratory analysis. The theoretical part is devoted to a holistic view of St. Joseph´s chapel at the Capitular Temple of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Litomyšl. It follows its historical development, with emphasis on the medieval layout of the object and the connection it has to the area of the former Augustinian monastery. Analyzes show remarkable artistically valuable details and presents possible solutions for further interdisciplinary research. The theoretical part also refers to the results of the restoration work in the chapel interior, executed in 2002.
