Manufacturing in rural areas: case study from Zlinský and Vysočina regions

Abstract:

Ve většině států světa tvoří venkovský prostor významnou část území a často bývá spojován se zemědělstvím. Avšak v celosvětovém měřítku se setkáváme s formováním globálních měst, která přitahují ředitelství nadnárodních firem, ale také velký počet obyvatel. Dochází k přesunům aktivit za hranice měst, a to zejména na venkov, který se stále častěji stává místem lokalizace nezemědělských aktivit. Venkov tudíž není stálou jednotkou v sídelním systému, nýbrž časem prošel mnoha změnami a evolucí. Postupně dochází k intenzivním projevům globalizace a ta vytváří tlak na výrobce neustále snižovat své náklady. Venkov nabízí levnější, ale kvalifikovanou pracovní sílu, levné a dostupné nemovitosti, ale především blízkost trhů. Díky tomu se mnoho venkovských podniků integruje do mezinárodních dodavatelsko-odběratelských vztahů v rámci globálních produkčních sítí. Tato práce se zaměřuje na rozmístění průmyslu a odvětvovou strukturu venkovského průmyslu ve vybraných modelových územích kraje Zlínského a kraje Vysočina. Další část práce je zaměřena na analýzu dodavatelsko-odběratelských vazeb, jejich intenzitu a charakter. Datová základna je postavená na sběru primárních i sekundárních dat. Pro účely tohoto výzkumu byla použita data především z Registru ekonomických subjektů a z účetních uzávěrek. Pro sběr primárních dat byl použit strukturovaný dotazník.

Abstract:

In most countries in the world the rural space constitutes an essential part of the particular area and tends to be associated with agriculture. However, on global scale we are witnessing the establishment of global cities attracting both the headquarters of multinational businesses and large numbers of inhabitants. Activities are being moved behind the city boundaries, especially to the countryside which has been becoming increasingly the place where non-agricultural activities are localised. Thus, the countryside is not a stable unit within the settlement system, as it has been subject to many changes and evolution. The globalization has been manifesting with greater intensity and thus creating pressure on manufacturers to cut their costs. The countryside offers cheaper but more qualified workforce, cheap and affordable properties and especially, the availability of markets. This enables many rural businesses to integrate in the international supplier-customer relationships within global production networks. This thesis focuses on the distribution of industry and branch structure of rural industry in selected model areas of the Zlín Region and the Vysočina Region. The thesis also analyses the supplier-customer relationships, including their intensity and character. In terms of data, the thesis is based on both primary and secondary data. The research was conducted using data predominantly from the Business Register and final accounts. A structured questionnaire was used to collect primary data.
