Tato práce se zabývá vývojem speleoalpinismu na území České republiky a v rámci českých speleologických klubů od prvních známých sestupů do moravských propastí, až po konec 20. století. Kromě vývoje lezeckých technik si všímá také vztahu lidí k jeskyním v proměnách času, růstu jejich schopností poznávat jeskyně a postupné ztráty respektu z těžce přístupných a nebezpečných podzemních prostor.
