The impacts of the digitisation on running and dramaturgy of single-screen cinemas

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem digitalizace na provoz a změnu programové nabídky jednosálových kin. Cílem je posoudit jednotlivé aspekty přechodu na digitální formát, popsat provoz digitálního kina a analyzovat případné změny ve výběru promítaných filmů. Teoretická část práce shrnuje dostupné informace týkající se dané oblasti, praktická část poté demonstruje fungování dvou vybraných kin ve vztahu k teoreticky nastíněným hypotézám.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to examine the impacts of the digitisation on running and dramaturgy of single-screen cinemas. The term cinema digitisation stands for a wide range of technological changes which are connected with transition from the classical movie screening provided by a 35 mm celluloid to a new system of digital projection. I set myself a target to assess this transition, to describe running of a digital cinema and to analyse all potential changes in cinema's offer. The practical part summarizes available information related to this area, the analytical part subsequently illustrates operation of two selected cinemas in relation to the hypothesis which are given in the introduction of this thesis.
