Life Situations Assessment of Adolescents with Mental Disorders

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá posouzením životní situace adolescentů s psychickými poruchami. Teoretická část pojednává o klíčových pojmech - životní situaci (jejích prvcích a systémech, včetně její zásadní vlastnosti sociálního fungování) a jejím posuzování, dále o adolescenci a psychických poruchách, které jsou navíc záměrně popisovány z pohledu sociálního fungování. V metodické části je zdůvodněna použitá kvantitativní forma výzkumu a pozornost je věnována operacionalizaci. Empirická část mapuje konkrétní výsledky, pomocí nichž jsou hledány rozdíly v životní situaci posuzované skupiny adolescentů s psychickými poruchami ve srovnání s kontrolní skupinou adolescentů bez diagnóz. Pro toto posouzení byl vytvořen model obsahující čtyři základní dimenze potřeb, v rámci nichž byly srovnávány další subdimenze prostřednictvím konkrétních indikátorů. Z výsledků vyplynulo, že v praxi často užívané posuzování pouze základních neboli fyziologických potřeb není vhodné, neboť sledovaná skupina vykazuje významnější potíže v dimenzích psychických a především sociálních. Naopak pozitivní zjištění byla nalezena v noogenní dimenzi, která tak může být považována za jeden z resilienčních prvků skupiny adolescentů s psychickými poruchami.

Abstract:

The Master thesis focuses on the assessment of life situations of adolescents suffering from mental disorders. The theoretical part presents key concepts such as life situation (its components and systems, including its essential attributes of social functioning) and its assessment. Furthemore, it is focused on adolescence and mental disorders, that are analyzed within the framework of social functioning. In the methodological part, the reason for choosing quantitative methodology is justified and a special attention is dedicated to operationalization. The empirical part illustrates the results, with focus on differences between adolescents with mental disorders and control group of adolescents without mental disorders. For this assessment, a model consisting of four main dimensions of needs, was constructed. Within those needs, other subdimensions by means of specific indicators were compared. Based on the results, we came to conclusion that in practice, frequently used assessment of basic or physiological needs is not appropriate, because the observed group show more significant difficulties in psychological dimensions, especially social. On the contrary, a positive finding was found in noogenic dimension, which can be considered one of resilient components of adolescents with mental disorders.
