Spam and Email Security in a Retail Company

Abstract:

Ve své diplomové práci se zabývám problematikou emailové komunikace se zaměřením na její ochranu proti nevyžádaným zprávám. Popisuji strukturu emailu i možná ohrožení plynoucí z přijetí nevyžádaných zpráv. V práci dále analyzuji konkrétní metody v boji proti těmto zprávám a upozorňuji na potenciální slabá místa, která mohou být pro organizaci nebezpečná. Dále provádím analýzu současného stavu emailové komunikace v obchodní organizaci, z níž vyplývá těžiště mé práce - návrh implementace nového výkonnějšího filtračního řešení. Tento postup je obohacen o možnost zabezpečení přístupu pracovníků do poštovních schránek realizovaného mimo prostředí obchodní organizace. V závěru provádím srovnání výchozího stavu s navrženým řešením a vyvozuji jeho možné výhody.

Abstract:

The subject of my thesis lies in the area of email communication with focus on the filtration of unsolicited messages (SPAM). I have conducted an analysis of email structure and introduce the reader to the possible risks connected with spam. Furthermore, I analyze particular methods fighting SPAM with identification of their potential bottlenecks and weak spots which can prove dangerous for an organization. The implementation of a new and more powerful filtration solution in a real environment of a retail organization, the core topic of this thesis, is based on the outcomes of conducted analyses. New solution implementation comes with an enhanced feature – the possibility to realize a secured email inbox access from outside of the retail organization environment. At the end there is an evaluation of the thesis goals and also a comparison to the starting position.
