Ludvík Hlavačka. The Initiator of Electric Shoes and Electric Barriers on the Czechoslovakian Border?

Abstract:

Hlavním tématem práce je život a činy Ludvíka Hlavačky, duchovního otce elektrických bot a elektrifikace drátěných zátarasů na hranicích. Nechvalně se zapsal do dějin jako krajský velitel StB v Gottwaldově a později jako velitel Pohraniční stráže. Jeho působení v uherskohradišťské věznici je neodmyslitelně spjato s používáním brutálních vyšetřovacích metod a mučením elektrickým proudem při vyšetřování. Stál za elektrifikací tzv. železné opony, drátěné stěny a smrtící pasti na hranicích, která tvořila v době komunistické totality neproniknutelnou bariéru pro ty, kteří toužili po skutečném svobodném světě. Dne 1. ledna 1955 byl jmenován náměstkem ministra vnitra ČSR pro vojska MV. Od pádu komunismu do jeho smrti uplynulo 16 let. Za tuto dlouho dobu nebyl Ludvík Hlavačka nikdy souzen ani potrestán za mučení vězňů v Uherském Hradišti ani za elektrickou stěnu smrti. Jako memento jeho činů a komunistické hrůzovlády stále stojí v samotném centru města Uherské Hradiště chátrající věznice, za jejímiž stěnami se mučilo, trýznilo a umíralo. To vše pod dohledem Ludvíka Hlavačky.

Abstract:

The main topic of this work is the life and deeds of Ludvík Hlavačka, the initiator of electric shoes and electric barriers on the Czechoslovakian border. He entered in history as a regional commandant of the State Security in Gottwaldov and later as a commandant of the Frontier Guard. His work in the prison in Uherské Hradiště is inseparably connected with the use of brutal interrogation techniques and torture by electricity during investigations. He stood for the electrification of the Iron Curtain, wire wall and deadly trap on the Czechoslovakian border which during the communist totalitarianism created an impenetrable barrier for people who desired to escape to the West. On 1st January 1955 he was appointed Deputy Minister of the Interior of Czechoslovakia for the armed forces of the Ministry of the Interior. 16 years passed since the fall of the communism until his death. During this long period Ludvík Hlavačka was never tried or punished for the torture of prisoners in Uherské Hradište or for building the electrical wall of death. The prison, behind whose walls the persons were tormented, tortured and killed still stands in the very center of city Uherské Hradiště as a sad memento of his work and of the communist reign.
