Význam cen ropy pro světovou ekonomiku je zřejmý od 70. let 20. století. Libye má největší zásoby ropy v Africe, díky čemuž je jedním z předních vývozců ropy. Significance of the oil prices are demonstrated to the world economy since the 1970s. Libya possesses the largest oil reserves in Africa, making the state one of the leading oil exporters.
