Lifestyle of the castratos and its influence on the primadona phenomenon

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce pojednává o historických okolnostech, které daly vzniknout významné roli kastrátů v duchovní a operní hudbě. Další část je věnována ženám, konkrétně tomu, jaké měly postavení ve společnosti a možnosti se vzdělávat. Ženy umělkyně hrály v dějinách hudby a při vývoji pěvecké techniky významnou roli. Kastráti nebyli pouze zpěváky, ale také učitelé a skladatelé, kteří své umění předávali dalším umělcům a umělkyním. Poslední úsek bakalářské práce se věnuje současným operním hvězdám. Na příkladu skladby Wolfganga Amadea Mozarta je demonstrována komparace vokální techniky a stylu. Závěr se věnuje výběru pěvců z kontratenorového oboru.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the historical circumstances that led to the significant role of castrati in sacred and opera music and their influence on female artists and vocal techniques in music history. The thesis analyzes the social and educational status of women at the time and explores how castrati, as teachers and composers, passed their art on to subsequent generations of male and female singers. In addition to a historical overview and technical aspects of castration, the thesis focuses on contemporary opera stars and their techniques, which are compared with historical singing teaching methods. The conclusion discusses modern approaches to interpreting opera roles traditionally reserved for castrati and their impact on contemporary singing techniques and repertoire.
