The Influence of Russian Natural Gas on the Czech Republic-Russia Relations

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou vztahů mezi Českou republikou a Ruskou federací, která je založena na hlubším pochopení trhu se zemním plynem a zároveň vlivem na vzájemnou závislost. Klíčovým aspektem této problematiky je rozpoznat důležitost zásob, poptávky, těžby, spotřeby, přepravy a distribuce zemního plynu pro dané krajiny. Zásadním cílem této práce je analýza trhu se zemním plynem obou krajin pro další vyhodnocení potenciální strategie a budoucích doporučení vhodných jak pro Česko, tak i pro Rusko. Při identifikaci této problematiky je také nutné si uvědomit důležitou roli Evropské unie a její společné energetické politiky, a to z důvodu, že Česká republika je jedním z členských států. I z tohoto hlediska je velmi důležité identifikovat rozdíl mezi liberálním evropským energetickým trhem a ruským státně řízeným energetickým trhem.

Abstract:

This Bachelor´s Thesis deals with relations between the Czech Republic and the Russian Federation based on a deeper understanding of the natural gas market, and its influence on the mutual interdependence. Crucial aspect that is being treated in this issue is to recognize importance of supplies, demand, production, consumption, transportation, and distribution of natural gas for each country. The main aim of this Thesis is to analyze natural gas markets of both countries to further evaluate potential strategies, and future recommendations suitable for Czechia as well as Russia. In taking up this issue, the European Union´s Common Energy Policy becomes also relevant, as the Czech Republic is one of the member states. It is therefore very important to identify the difference between the liberal European energy market and the Russian state-controlled energy market.
