Monitoring of functional independence of patients after acute stroke

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá zhodnocením stavu pacientů po akutní atace cévní mozkové příhody. U pacientů byla sledována a hodnocena míra funkční soběstačnosti prostřednictvím testu aktivit, testu funkční míry nezávislosti – FIM (Functional Independence Measure). Dalšími cíli této práce bylo ověření vhodnosti zvoleného testu pro objektivizaci tíže postižení u pacientů po akutní cévní mozkové příhodě a pro použití daného testu v praxi a zodpovězení otázky, zda míra funkční nezávislosti je závislá na věku, na délce hospitalizace a na topice postižení hemisfér u pacientů ve sledovaném souboru. Testování probandů bylo prováděno před zahájením rehabilitace a po ukončení rehabilitace na této klinice. Výsledky práce ukázaly, že komplexní léčba spolu s rehabilitací vedla u pacientů po akutní cévní mozkové příhodě ke zlepšení hodnot FIM testu.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the evaluation of the state of patients who have had an acute stroke. The state of these patients was determined through the administration of various tests designed to measure their activity levels and thereby to evaluate their ability to function independently, as well as through the use of the FIM (Functional Independence Measure). Other aims of this project were to verify the suitability of the chosen tests to objectively determine the severity of the disability of patients who have had an acute stroke and, furthermore, to use the given tests in practice to ascertain whether the level of independent functioning in patients in the observed sample group is dependent on their age, the length of their hospitalization and on the specific location of the affected brain hemisphere. The subjects were tested before the start of their rehabilitation treatment as well as afterward at the clinic. The results of the project indicate that providing both a comprehensive treatment plan as well as rehabilitation to patients who have had an acute stroke, led to an improvement in their FIM scores.
