Influence of temperature on thermal loss of textiles

Abstract:

V diplomové práci je popsán vývoj přístroje, metodiky měření a hodnocení tepelněizolačních vlastností textilií za nízkých teplot. Rešeršní část práce je věnována obecně přenosu tepla vedením, sáláním, radiací a je také zaměřena na přenos tepla v textilních strukturách. Jsou popsány tepelné charakteristiky související s tepelným komfortem, tepelnou bilancí člověka a izolací oděvního systému včetně odvození clo, které slouţí ke kvantifikaci tepelného komfortu.V práci je uveden dvoufázový model predikce tepelné vodivosti textilních struktur, který vychází z tepelné vodivosti vláken a hustotní porózity textilie a je východiskem pro predikci clo. Jsou ukázány simulace prostupu tepla vedením přes vlákno, které poskytují hodnoty tepelné vodivosti srovnatelné s hodnotami získanými při pouţití dvoufázového modelu. Jsou popsány běţně uţívané metody měření tepelné vodivosti a tepelného odporu zaloţené převáţně na přenosu tepla vedením, z kterých je následně vyhodnocováno clo. Byl konstatován rozpor mezi běţně uţívanými postupy a normou ISO 11079:2007 "Stanovení a interpretace stresu z chladu pomocí potřebné izolace oděvu (IREQ) a místních účinků chladu", kde je uvedeno, ţe pro výpočet potřebné izolace oděvu je nutno uvaţovat především přenos tepla prouděním a sáláním. V experimentální části jsou nejprve popsány vybrané materiály s různou úrovní tepelné izolace, u kterých byly měřeny tepelné charakteristiky na standardních přístrojích a za standardních podmínek. Další část je věnována vývoji a návrhu nového měřícího zařízení pro měření tepelně izolačních vlastností, které zohledňuje i přenos tepla prouděním a sáláním. Nejprve byly provedeny pokusy stanovení stupně tepelné izolace s vyuţitím měření teploty v různých místech systému. V těchto pokusech však nebylo pokračováno, protoţe např. čidla při poloţení na textilii byla silně ovlivněna teplotou okolí. Nakonec byla zvolena metodika výpočtu tepelných ztrát na základě elektrického příkonu topného tělesa a stupně izolace zaloţeném na reálném čase potřebném k ochlazení a k ohřevu topného tělesa o 1 C a čase chlazení zaloţeném na modelu chlazení polo-nekonečné vrstvy. Byly sledovány tepelné ztráty při poloze vzorku textilie přímo na topném tělese i v případě vzduchové mezery mezi topným tělesem a textilií. Na závěr práce byl pro vybranou textilii navrţen model pro predikci tepelných ztrát, který zohledňuje tepelnou diferenci, rychlost proudění vzduchu a počet textilních vrstev pro obě polohy textilií vzhledem k topnému tělesu.

Abstract:

The thesis describes the design and development of the instrument, measurement method and evaluation of thermal insulation properties of fabrics at low temperatures. The review is devoted to general heat transfer by conduction, convection and radiation and is also focused on heat transfer in textile structures. The thermal characteristics related to thermal comfort, thermal balance of human and insulated clothing system, including the derivation of clo, which is used for quantification of thermal comfort, are described in this work. The work includes a two-phase model for prediction of the thermal conductivity of textile structures, based on the thermal conductivity of fibers and density/ porosity of fabrics and it can be used for clo prediction. Simulation of heat transfer by conduction through the fiber, which provide thermal conductivity values comparable with two-phase model, is included, too. The commonly used methods for measuring of thermal conductivity and thermal resistance mainly based on heat conduction, from which it is subsequently evaluated clo, are described. There were noted a discrepancy between the commonly used procedures and ISO 11079: 2007 "Ergonomics of the thermal environment - Determination and interpretation of cold stress when using required clothing insulation (IREQ) and local cooling effects",, which states that the calculation of the required clothing insulation should be considered mainly heat conduction and radiation. The selected samples of textiles with varying level of thermal insulation used for measurement of thermal characteristics on standard devices under standard conditions are described in experimental part. Next part is devoted to the development and design of a new measuring device for measuring the thermal insulation properties, which reflects the transfer of heat convection and radiation. In the start , attempts were made to determine the degree of thermal insulation with the use of measurement temperature at different places of the system. These experiments, however, did not continue because some problemes, e.g. sensors when placed on the fabric were strongly influenced by the TECHNICKÁ UNIVERZITA V LIBERCI ambient temperature. Finally, it was chosen methodology to calculate the heat loss based on the electric power of the heating element and isolation levels based on realtime required for cooling and heating of the heater on 1 C time and cooling time based on the model of semi-infinite layer cooling. Heat losses were observed at the position of the sample fabric directly on the heating element and in the case of a defined air gap between the heater and textile. Finally, the model predicting heat loss based on thermal difference, air velocity and the number of fabric layers for two positions of the fabric due to the heating element was created.
