Issues of autorship of sacred songs in hymn books of the 16th and 17th century: Blahoslav's Register and its successors

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je přispět k výkladu široké a v reformačním období velmi složité problematice autorství duchovních písní. Základním pramenem, od kterého se odvíjí i koncepce této práce, je Blahoslavův soupis autorů Písní duchovních některých, jichž se ode vší Jednoty Bratrské písně užívá, Rejstřík (Akta Jednoty bratrské, 9. sv). Součástí práce je jeho porovnání s glosovanými bratrskými kancionály Písně duchovní evanjelistské z let 1576 a 1598 a Klejchovým rejstříkem vydaným roku 1765. Mimo popisu podoby autorských záznamů byl učiněn pokus o vytvoření typologie autorství, která by mohla být aplikována na písně označované v rejstřících jako autorské. Výstupem je tedy také komparační tabulka, která přináší podrobný rozbor rejstříků a autorských glos a využívá naznačené kategorie autorství.

Abstract:

The purpose of this work is to broaden the contemporary interpretation of the authorship of sacred songs, which is especially complicated in terms of the period of reformation. The basic source for this thesis is a list titled Písní duchovních některých, jichž se ode vší Jednoty Bratrské písně užívá, Rejstřík (Register) by Jan Blahoslav (Acta of Unitas Fratrum, vol. 9). The thesis compares the Register with glossed Brethren’s hymns Písně duchovní evanjelistské of 1576 and 1598 and Klejch’s register published in 1765. Besides characterising the form of the authors’ notes the thesis also strives to create a typology of authorship that could be applied to songs noted as authors’ in the registers. The results include a table of comparison that lists a detailed analysis of the registers and authors’ glosses and uses the suggested authorship categories.
