The "snowflake" generation through the eyes of their parents

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá generací známou jako "sněhové vločky". Tato generace se narodila v letech 1995 až 2010 a je často charakterizována staršími generacemi jako mimořádně přecitlivělá, emočně nestabilní, zaměřená na sebe samou a přesvědčená o své výjimečnosti. Práce se bude zaměřovat na vnímání této mladé generace ze strany jejich vlastních rodičů a bude zkoumat, zda jejich pohled odráží stereotypy spojené s fenoménem "sněhových vloček". Praktická část je založena na kvalitativním výzkumu, který jsem realizovala pomocí individuálních rozhovorů s vybranými informátorkami, zvolila jsem že budu provádět polostrukturované rozhovory s předem sestavěnou strukturou otázek. Zaměřila jsem se na zákonné zástupce této generace. Výsledky rozhovoru jsem následně přepsala do písemné formy, kde jsem poté interpretovala kódování s využitím zakotvené teorie. Výsledkem výzkumu je analyzovat, zda se rozdíly mezi generacemi vyskytovaly v takové míře i v minulosti.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the generation known as "snowflakes". This generation was born between 1995 and 2010 and is often characterized by older generations as extremely hypersensitive, emotionally unstable, self-focused and convinced of their uniqueness. The thesis will focus on their own parents' perceptions of this younger generation and will explore whether their perspective reflects the stereotypes associated with the 'snowflake' phenomenon. The practical part is based on qualitative research, which I conducted through individual interviews with selected informants, choosing to conduct semi-structured interviews with a pre-designed question structure. I focused on the legal representatives of this generation. I then transcribed the interview results into written form, where I then interpreted the coding using grounded theory. The outcome of the research is to analyse whether differences between generations have occurred to this extent in the past.
