The vulnerable position of women with a non-western migration background: The influence of the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá dopadem pandemie COVID-19 na postavení žen s nezápadním migračním původem na trhu práce. Byly zkoumány různé pozice na trhu práce: 1) ženy se zaměstnáním, 2) ženy hledající zaměstnání, 3) ženy v procesu integrace a 4) ženy samostatně výdělečně činné. Důraz byl kladen na jejich socioekonomický status již před pandemií a na to, jak pandemie ovlivnila jejich postavení. To bylo provedeno s využitím literární rešerše a rovněž 14 polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s ženami z podskupiny. Kromě toho byla pozornost věnována také reakci členských států a EU s cílem čelit negativním socioekonomickým dopadům a zaměření na nejzranitelnější skupiny v nástrojích, které přijaly.

Abstract:

This thesis concerns the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the labor market position of women with a non-western migration background. Different labor market positions have been researched: 1) women with a job, 2) women searching for a job, 3) women who are in their integration procedure, and 4) self-employed women. Focus has been put on their socio-economic status already before the pandemic, and how the pandemic has impacted their position. This has been done with the use of literature research as well as 14 semi-structured interviews with women from the subgroup. Moreover, attention has also been paid to the national and EU response to counter the negative socio-economic effects, and the focus on the most vulnerable groups in the instruments they have adopted.
