Influence of Chinese-Ruchuan relations on the development of the Ruchu Kingdom 1372-1477

Abstract:

The subject of thesis is the influence of china-ryukyuan relations on the Ryukyu between the years 1372 and 1477. This paper’s main focus is an analysis of the relations between China and Ryukyu, how they influenced the economy, politics, and development of the society on the islands. The first part of the paper introduces the theme with the tributary system, the first records of Ryukyu in China and the history of the islands before the first contact with China. The second part describes the situation between the years 1372 and 1477. From the start, it provides a view on the beginning of the relations between Ryukyu and China; the formation of trade routes; the building of the ports and granting of the royal title to the leader of Ryukyu; the Chinese maritime ban; which commodities were the main goods of Ryukyu and what where the trade places. Then it follows with the changes and creation of a united state, the origin of the royal bloodline and the gradual deteriorating of whole situation of the Ryukyu and with the causes of the decline of maritime trade and its Golden era.

Abstract:

Predmetom tejto práce je vplyv čínsko-rjúkjúských vzťahov na vývoj Rjúkjú v rokoch od roku 1372 až do roku 1477. Práca sa zameriava na analýzu vzťahov Číny a Rjúkjú, ako ovplyvnili ekonomiku, politiku a vývin spoločnosti na ostrovoch. V prvej časti uvádza do tématiky predstavením tributárneho systému, prvých záznamov o Rjúkjú v Číne a históriu ostrovov pre prvým kontaktom s Čínou. V druhej časti popisuje samotnú situáciu v rokoch 1372-1477. Od začiatku poskytuje náhľad na začiatok vzťahov medzi Rjúkjú a Čínou; vznik obchodných ciest, vybudovanie prístavov a udelenie kráľovského titulu vládcom na Rjúkjú; čínsky námorný zákaz; aké komodity tvorili tovar, s ktorým Rjúkjú obchodovalo a na akých miestach obchodovali. Ďalej pokračuje tým, ako sa krajina zmenila na jednotný štát a vznik kráľovskej línie Šó, spolu s postupným následníctvom prichádza k predstaveniu zhoršenia celkovej situácie na Rjúkjú a aké príčiny viedli k úpadku námorného obchodu a Zlatej éry námorného obchodu na Rjúkjú.
