Geochemical evolution of weathered cover on uranium deposit Olší

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce Geochemický vývoj zvětralinového pokryvu na uranovém ložisku Olší se zabývá vývojem zvětralinového pokryvu na této zájmové lokalitě. Díky přírodní akumulaci uranu se zde tato surovina mohla těžit již od roku 1959. Její těžba byla ukončena v roce 1989. V současné době je ložisko zatopeno. Voda je však jedním z činitelů, který je schopen proces zvětrávání urychlit, a proto není pochyb o tom, že se chemické složení pokryvných útvarů v průběhu času mění. Cílem mé bakalářské práce je tedy co nejpřesněji popsat geochemický vývoj zvětralinového pokryvu ze vzorků, které byly odebrány v roce 2006 na čtyřech profilech v této lokalitě. Ukázalo se, že zvětralinové pokryvy podléhají zvětrávání a mění se jejich geochemické složení. Jednotlivé prvky mají v různých hloubkách různou molární koncentraci a lze je rozdělit do několika základních skupin dle vývoje molárních trendů. Tyto skupiny stojí v podstatě proti sobě, a to tak, že kde jeden prvek dosahuje maxima své molární koncentrace, druhý zde dosahuje minima. Zjistila jsem také, že mezi některými prvky existují určité vztahy.

Abstract:

This Bachelor thesis deals with the evolution of a weathered cover on the uranium deposit in Olší. Thanks to its natural accumulation in this district, uranium could be mined here since 1959. Mining was finished in 1989. Currently, the deposit has been flooded. Nevertheless, water is one of the main factors which can make the process of weathering faster. For this reason, there is very little doubt about the fact that the chemical structure of the weathered cover has changed in the course of time. In this Bachelor thesis I provide a detailed analysis of the geochemical evolution of the weathered cover. All data that have entered the actual analysis have been based on samples I collected on four sites in the afore mentioned district in 2006. I have found out that the weathered covers have been under the weathering process and that their geochemical structure has been changing. When in different depths, individual elements differ as regards their molar concentration and we can sort them out into several categories according to their molar trends. When one element reaches the maximum of its molar concentration, the other one reaches its minumum. This way, the afore mentioned categories stand in opposition to one another. I have also found out that there are some relations between several elements.
