Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou sérového vaskulárního endoteliálního faktoru-D (VEGF-D) jako potenciálního biomarkeru pro diferenciální diagnostiku maligních a benigních lézí vaječníků. Karcinom vaječníku je známý svou špatnou prognózou, což je dáno především pozdním záchytem onemocnění a absencí dostatečně senzitivních a specifických markerů pro včasnou diagnostiku a odlišení benigních lézí od malig-ních tumorů. V retrospektivní studii byly analyzovány hladiny VEGF-D ve vzorcích séra odebraných předoperačně od 162 pacientek, které byly rozděleny do tří sku-pin: pacientky s maligními tumory (N=54), benigními lézemi (N=47) a zdravé kon-trolní skupiny (N=61). Statistické analýzy prokázaly významný rozdíl v hladinách VEGF-D mezi pacientkami s maligními tumory a ostatními skupinami. Výsledky uká-zaly, že nízké hladiny VEGF-D v séru korelují s přítomností maligního tumoru, zatím-co mezi benigními lézemi a zdravými kontrolami nebyl nalezen statisticky významný rozdíl. Navíc byla zjištěna korelace mezi nízkými hladinami VEGF-D a vysokými hla-dinami konvenčních markerů CA125 a HE4 u pacientek s maligními tumory. Výsled-ky naznačují, že VEGF-D by mohl být slibným biomarkerem pro stratifikaci pacientek s maligními tumory, což by mohlo přispět ke zlepšení diagnostiky a léčby tohoto onemocnění.

Abstract:

This paper deals with the analysis of serum vascular endothelial factor-D (VEGF-D) as a potential biomarker for the differential diagnosis of malignant and benign ovar-ian lesions. Ovarian cancer is known for its poor prognosis, which is mainly due to late detection of the disease and the absence of sufficiently sensitive and specific markers for early diagnosis and differentiation of benign lesions from malignant tumors. In a retrospective study, VEGF-D levels in serum samples collected preoper-atively from 162 patients were analyzed and divided into three groups: patients with malignant tumors (N=54), benign lesions (N=47) and healthy controls (N=61). Statistical analyses showed a significant difference in VEGF-D levels between pa-tients with malignant tumors and the other groups. The results showed that low serum VEGF-D levels correlated with the presence of a malignant tumor, whereas no statistically significant difference was found between benign lesions and healthy controls. In addition, a correlation was found between low levels of VEGF-D and high levels of conventional markers CA125 and HE4 in patients with malignant tumors. The results suggest that VEGF-D could be a promising biomarker for stratifying pa-tients with malignant tumors, which could contribute to improving the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
