Implementation of JPEG2000 Support for RatioViz Visualization System

Abstract:

Tato práce popisuje proces integrace formátu JPEG2000 do vizualizačního softwaru RationAI. Tuto integraci zajišťuje nový plugin pro Clinical Data Service, aplikace pro prohlížení velkých snímků shromážděných ze zdravotnických zařízení. Pro kódování a dekódování obrázků je použit kodek Comprimato JPEG2000 SDK. Díky této integraci je možné zmenšit velikost potřebnou k uložení digitálních patologických obrazových dat, aniž by byla drasticky snížena jejich kvalita. Tato práce nejprve popisuje současnou implementaci. Poté shrnuje použité metody. Následně popisuje, jak jsou jednotlivé komponenty implementovány. Na závěr jsou uvedeny benchmarky, které ukazují výkonnostní rozdíl mezi současnou implementací a novou implementací, popsanou v této práci.

Abstract:

This thesis describes the process of integrating JPEG2000 format into RationAI visualization software. This integration is ensured by the new plugin for Clinical Data Service, an application for viewing large images gathered from medical facilities. For encoding and decoding images, the plugin uses Comprimato JPEG2000 codec SDK. Thanks to this integration, we can reduce the size required to store digital pathology imaging data without compromising quality. This thesis describes the current implementation first. Then, it summarizes the methods that were used. After that it describes how each component is implemented. Finally there are benchmarks that show the performance difference between the current implementation and the new one, described in this thesis.
