Self-Service BI Analysis in Various Environments and Tools

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou self-service business intelligence nástrojů Microsoft Power BI, Tableau a SAP Analytics Cloud v podmínkách implementace úlohy analýzy skladů. Vzhledem k rostoucímu objemu společnostmi denně zpracovávaných dat je na tuto oblast nástrojů kladen stále větší důraz a výběr vhodného analytického nástroje je kritický pro efektivní podporu rozhodování business uživatelů.Práce jednak popisuje samotné principy business intelligence, self-service business intelligence, charakterizuje současný trh analytických a BI nástrojů, v dalších částech se pak věnuje návrhu řešení úlohy analýzy skladů formou dimenzionálního a datového modelu. Samotné řešení je implementováno v daných nástrojích, přičemž u každého z nich jsou popsány jeho možnosti a funkcionality z různých hledisek, např. konektivita k datovým zdrojům, možnosti vizualizace dat aj. Následně tato práce na základě definovaných kritérií jednotlivé nástroje vpodmínkách implementované úlohy hodnotí.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis deals with the following self-service business intelligence tools: Microsoft Power BI, Tableau and SAP Analytics Cloud and analyses them under conditions of warehouse analytics. Due to the increasing volume of data that companies process and analyze daily the focus on this field of tools has been growing ever since and the choice of the right analytical tool is critical to provide efficient support in the decision-making process.This paper describes the principles of business intelligence, self-service business intelligence and outlines the current BI & Analytics market. In later parts, it proposes a solution to an analytical task, which in this case is warehouse analytics. The solution is implemented in a form of a dashboard in each of the mentioned SSBI tools with the focus on each’s functionality and options analyzed from various perspectives, such as data connectivity, data visualization options etc. Finally, each tool is rated based on the observations obtained during the implementation phase.
