Bakalářská práce analyzuje dílo Johna Irvinga Pravidla moštárny jako příklad neo-viktoriánské fikce. Irving v tomto románu oživuje některé z viktoriánských hodnot, které zajímaly také samotné velikány viktoriánské literatury. Tyto hodnoty ovšem častokrát představovaly nedosažitelné ideály. Abstract:
The bachelor thesis analyzes John Irving’s Cider House Rules as an example of Neo-Victorian fiction. With his novel Irving brings to life some of the Victorian values that some of the great Victorian writers were concerned with as well. However, many times those values represented unattainable ideals. Irving discusses the disputes between family and society, and their responsibility rates in the rulemaking …more
