Selected Security Threats as Outcomes of Climate Change - A Case Study of Security Threats in the Arctic

Abstract:

This thesis looks into selected security threats that emerge as a result of climate change. Concretely, the thesis examines the impact of climate change on security sectors, as they are defined by the Copenhagen School of Security. The selected research is focused on the Arctic region, as it is precisely in this area that climate change indicators emerge early and have a significant impact on all security sectors. The time frame of work is not firmly bound, but the author focuses primarily on researching the climate impact of the Arctic environment from the rise of environmental security in international politics to the present day.

Abstract:

Táto práca sa skúma vybrané bezpečnostné hrozby, ktoré sa objavujú ako dôsledok klimatických zmien. Práca skúma vplyv zmien klímy na jednotlivé sektory bezpečnosti, ako ich definuje Kodaňská škola bezpečnosti. Vybraný región výskumu je vymedzený na arktickú oblasť, nakoľko práve v tejto oblasti sa ukazatelia zmeny klímy objavujú najskôr a majú výrazný dopad na všetky sektory bezpečnosti. Časový rámec práce nie je pevne ohraničený, autorka sa však primárne zameriava na výskum dopadu klímy na prostredie Arktídy od vzostupu enviromentálnej bezpečnosti v rámci medzinárodnej politiky až po súčasnosť
