The scope of isotopies in The Little Prince

Abstract:

The master`s diploma thesis entitled “Les réseaux des isotopies dans Le Petit Prince” is basically a linguistic analysis. In this case, it is the analysis from the point of view of contextual semantics, and moreover from the point of view of the approach of a French linguist François Rastier, who is famous for his Sémantique interprétative. The corpus of the thesis is constituted by a very famous French book - The Little Prince written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The basis of this linguistic branch is explained in the theoretical part of the thesis. The analysis focuses on the sections of the book, where there are confrontations between the little prince and adult characters. We suppose that the conflicts are reflected in the language and therefore in the isotopy of the whole message as well. The focus is put on the questions of the little prince, on the situation when the little prince doesn’t understand the adults, on the situations where ones describe the others and finally on the global isotopy. The conclusion summaries and evaluates the results acquired during the analysis.

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce s názvem „Les réseaux des isotopies dans Le Petit Prince“ je v podstatě jazykovědnou analýzou. V tomto případě se jedná o analýzu z pohledu teorie kontextové sémantiky, a především z pohledu přístupu francouzského lingvisty François Rastiera, který je znám svým dílem Sémantique interprétative. Podstata této odnože sémantiky je vysvětlena v teoretické části. Cílem práce je výzkum výskytu isotopie v korpusu, kterým je literární dílo Malý princ od francouzského spisovatele Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. K vlastní analýze byly vybrány takové úseky knihy, kde dochází ke konfrontaci mezi postavou malého prince a dospělými postavami. Předpokládáme totiž, že konflikty a nedorozumění mezi malým princem, jakožto zástupcem světa dětí, a dospělými postavami se zobrazují v jazyce, a tudíž i v isotopii celé zprávy. Zejména se zaměřujeme na tyto oblasti: otázky malého prince, na situace, kdy si malý princ s ostatními navzájem nerozumí, na situace, kdy jedni popisují druhé, a nakonec na globální výskyt isotopií. V závěru shrnujeme a vyhodnocujeme výsledky získané během analýzy.
