Variations of the 1970s Slovak female self-portrait in the works of Veronika Rónaiová and Milota Havránková

Abstract:

The topic of the present bachelor thesis is the Slovak female self-portrait and its variations in the works of two Slovak authors, Veronika Rónaiová and Milota Havránková. The bachelor thesis deals with self-portraits and self-portrait cycles from the 1970s, which is the period at the beginnings of the chosen authors’ artistic careers. It examines the forms of self-portraiture on the basis of carefully chosen works with references to the period and its social and artistic tendencies. With an emphasis on the chosen types of self-portraiture the bachelor thesis deals with such primary qualities as self-identification and narration, body arranging and its fragmentation, the use of the elements of continuity and the layering of complex motives, the presence of surrealistic elements and experimentation with an emphasis on surpassing the limits of traditional artistic disciplines.

Abstract:

Témou bakalárskej diplomovej práce je ženská autoportrétna tvorba na Slovensku a jej podoby v tvorbe dvoch slovenských autoriek, Veroniky Rónaiovej a Miloty Havránkovej. Práca sa zameriava predovšetkým na autoportréty a autoportrétne cykly, ktoré vznikli v období 70. rokov minulého storočia, tzn. v období, ktoré spadá na začiatok umeleckej kariéry vybraných autoriek. Autoportrétne formy skúma na základe úzko vybraných diel a s prihliadnutím na dobové, spoločenské a umelecké tendencie vymedzeného obdobia. S dôrazom na zvolené typy sebazobrazovania si práca prostredníctvom vybraných autoriek bližšie všíma prítomnosť takých javov, akými sú sebaidentifikácia a sebanarácia, inscenovanie tela a jeho fragmentácia, využitie vrstvenia motívov a ich kontinuity, či prítomnosť surrealistických prvkov a experimentovania s dôrazom na rušenie hraníc medzi jednotlivými umeleckými disciplínami.
